The Iridescence (色彩 ), or the Chroma on Global, is a non-playable character in Blue Archive who is a mysterious entity with mysterious powers.
Profile[]
Introduction[]
A mysterious, supernatural, god-like entity. It is, much like Sensei, an outsider to Kivotos. The Iridescence can't be explained scientifically with current technology, and only the Nameless Priests seem to be well-versed about it. If someone comes into contact with the Iridescence, it is said that their "Mysteries" will be turned into "Terrors", with no way to undo it, much like the dead cannot be resurrected.
The Iridescence can be called forth by someone desperate, such as in Volume 1 Chapter 3 where Shiroko summoned it, believing she was the only one destined to defeat Hoshino Terror. However, their contact was cut off by Shiroko Terror, who managed to force a transfer sequence by utilizing the Iridescence's power.
Personality[]
Although often believed by those who know of the Iridescence that it has no will, mind, or personality, it appears itself as an entity that is capable of strategizing. The Iridescence has also been shown to seemingly target individuals who are suffering tremendously, transforming them into a new being whose original identity becomes distorted.
Appearance[]
The Iridescence's true form was never shown, nor it was perceived by any. It is only depicted as a violet circular light with a jet black hole in the center or a total solar eclipse with the outer violet ring. It has an indescribable visual that can be taken as a corona or a prominence. This depiction might be possibly an "eye" of the entity itself.
Trivia[]
- In the Global version, the first mention of the Iridescence, which was during V3C4, was actually just simply "color". Although it was a correct translation, the community considered it as a bland name. However, during and after VFC1, the Iridescence was referred to as "Chroma."
- The "Iridescent Vanguard" (色彩の嚮導者), which refers to the individual who leads the Iridescence's invasion, is referred to as the "Guide of Chroma", or "Phrenapates" in Global.
- In Volume 1 Chapter 3, It was called again but under in different terms, this time Shiroko Terror is once again summoned to prevent Shiroko from making contact with the Iridescence as the Iridescence disappears from the sky.
