Phrenapates (プレナパテス) is a non-playable character in Blue Archive who serves as the leader of the Iridescent Vanguard or "Guide of Chroma" in Global, and an adult.
They are one of the two main antagonists of Volume F alongside Shiroko Terror.

Introduction[]
The leader of the Iridescent Vanguard, leading the Iridescence's invasion to Kivotos. Alongside Shiroko Terror and Plana, they appear to seek to bring Kivotos to its destined end. However, It wasn't all it seemed.

| At the end of chapter three to the beginning of chapter 4 Volume Finale, It's revealed that Phrenapate, the Guide of Chroma, is Sensei, but in an alternate world different from the one Sensei knew. However, it was without a choice. It was implied through some flashbacks during the GSC President's extended dialogue with Sensei that the other Sensei's timeline were destroyed, students getting killed left and right, including prominent student body councils like Sorasaki Hina to die, eventually causing grief and chaos all over Kivotos.
To make matters worse, Sensei was injured so severally that they went to coma, with the doctors treating his life-threatening injury to his face for over 70 days. One night, Sensei suddenly wakes up from their coma, much to the shock of doctors. They decide to walk outside determined to save one more student despite intense injuries (including the steel mask that was holding their face together). As they went to an alleyway, however, Shiroko (consumed by the Chroma) attacks them, shooting down their Shittim Chest as she points her pistol at them. However, she fires and lands a shot at them, but not at their vital points, stating that she can't bring herself to end their life and starts to break down. Just then, the Nameless Priests notices the interest of Chroma to Sensei due to the desire of them to protect their students, despite Shiroko Terror's plead not to, stating from the Priests that Sensei will now be a slave as the Guide of Chroma. However, Sensei actually used that ability to escort Shiroko Terror and their other considered student: A.R.O.N.A, into Sensei's parallel world, and during the events of Volume F Chapter 4, they fought against Sensei and the other Shiroko, until they soon laid defeat. Their original name is exactly the same as the Sensei's name. After being exposed to the Iridescence, their appearance changed dramatically. By the Nameless Priests, they are formally known as the "False Sensei - Phrenapates" (偽りの先生〜プレナパテス). They are Sensei from another timeline who contacted the Iridescence (also known as "The Chroma" in Global) while at the verge of death for the sake of fulfilling their final duty as a teacher. Before dying, Phrenapates entrusted their students to their parallel world counterpart, knowing they would do the same if they were in their position. As Phrenapates disappeared into nothingness, their parallel world self solemnly nodded in understanding and reached out to activate the last teleportation slot on Shiroko Terror, sacrificing their own chance at escape for the safety of the students. |

| Despite being endeavored by the Chroma, Phrenapates' personality is the exact same with Sensei's, always wanting to look out for their students.
Just like their name implies, Phrenapates is a deceiver. They were able to deceive so well that they even fooled the Nameless Priests, all in an attempt to save the last of their students: Shiroko Terror and Plana. |
Appearance[]
Phrenapates seems to have a mummy-like appearance without clothing, noted their hand. They wear a gray mask, a large, long gray cloak with bulky shoulder guards and wires, and a gray crown-like headwear.

Like their alternate counterpart, Sensei, Phrenapates uses the Adult Card (大人のカード, known as Credit Card on Global), but it's rusted.
Trivia[]
- The name "Phrenapates" originates from the greek word "φρεναπάτης" (phrenapatēs), which means "deceiver."
- Phrenapates' death is currently the second death in Blue Archive history, following Kuchinashi Yume's death.
- In Phrenapates' death CG, an origami crane can be seen next to them. This led some people to believe that it's the same crane that Sensei had during the 3rd PV but from another timeline. [1]
- Phrenapates' mask design may be inspired by King Baldwin IV's portrayal in the 2005 film Kingdom of Heaven
- If you complete either episode 7 or 8 (around the same time when you defeat Phrenapates), you'll be able to use their burned credit card in the items menu. Using it will give you 1200 Pyroxene, enough for a free 10-pull, but the card will be destroyed, leaving behind credit card shards, its last remains of Phrenapates' card. As of this moment, this process is irreversible.[1]
- There is an incident in CN where the card suddenly appeared earlier during Hyakkiyako summer event and Hoshino swimsuit banner. However, the card was later blocked from usage and was turned into shards later on, in which the game's official account reported was an accidental bug.
- The theme when Sensei turns into Phrenapates is called Responsibility, which shows the desire of them wanting to protect their remaining students, despite being in grave danger themselves.
