Abydos Student Council (アビドス生徒会) was the Student Council in Abydos High School.
Background[]
The original student council of Abydos during its former glory. Rumors say that Abydos was such a large school, its student council even had 70 student council presidents!
General Information[]
The Abydos Student Council was a group tasked to handle Abydos matters, back when the school was still striving. When desertification struck and their debt was continuously increasing, its members began dwindling away one by one, leaving one president behind: Kuchinashi Yume, who was selected through show of hands despite lacking in various aspects, and Takanashi Hoshino who joined and became vice-president not too long after. Despite various attempts to revitalize the school, failures were their only companion besides each other.
Unfortunately, an unfortunate incident occurred which led to the death of Yume, leaving behind Hoshino as its last member. Ever since, several individuals had attempted in forcing Hoshino to drop out and disband the council, including Black Suit who made a contract with her before realizing its invalidity due to not being approved by the school's advisor, Sensei. Eventually, the Foreclosure Task Force was officially recognized as Abydos' acting student council with the help of SCHALE.
During Volume 1 Chapter 3, a contract made between Yume as part of the Abydos Student Council and the Nephthys Corporation regarding the Trans-Desert Railroad Project was discovered. The contents said that Abydos bought the project's rights from Nephthys for 1 million yen, but only 10 thousand yen would be paid as initial down payment with the rest required to be paid in two years time. However, the contract was about to be voided because two years had nearly passed at the time, and the rights would be given away, which was unfavorable at the moment.
To counter the contract, it was proposed that the Abydos Student Council was technically never valid, since Yume was unofficially assigned the position through show of hands, but that would result in Nephthys gaining back the rights, which wasn't an option. Hoshino decided to handle things alone, since she was the only Abydos Student Council member left, even if it technically didn't exist, and despite the others' attempts to prevent her from going alone, she persisted.
Knowing the Foreclosure Task Force couldn't physically stop Hoshino, they utilized politics. The position of student council president remained vacant ever since Yume's death, so Ayane volunteered for the role. An election was made, and since Ayane, Nonomi, and Shiroko counted as 60% of the school's students, and with the help of Sensei in proving their legitimacy, Ayane became the Student Council President. She then merged the Foreclosure Task Force with the Student Council while keeping its name and demoted Hoshino from Vice President to Secretary. After the incidents, Hoshino decided to take on the role of president, while Ayane stepped back down.

Trivia[]
- The status of the original Student Council and its relation to Countermeasure Committee can be complicated over which is which during events of Volume 1. However, to describe it in simple terms:
- Abydos Student Council was pretty much the governing body of Abydos until the end of V1C2. However, it's inactiveness (with Hoshino does not take over its leadership since Yume's death) means the body was pretty much paralysed for years. The Committee do handle the internal matters of Abydos in its stead, however with lack of actual recognition from the official body, the club remains unofficial in the eyes of external parties until then.
- With the recognition of the Committee as the newly recognised student body of Abydos, the Abydos Student Council remains existed as a legacy body as no dissolution orders were taken against the Council, nor that the Council has a leader that can decide the actual fate until Ayane's appointment.
- Even with the merger of both bodies leadership later, the Student Council still keep their separate existence like how Shiroko Terror listed her affliation is with the council (which is, actually on the request of the Committee).
